Our Story

CONTRACT – NIKOLAY GADJEV was founded in 1991 by Nikolay Gadjev as a 100% private company. At the beginning the company was a trading company with chemicals, for which there was a high demand in former Yugoslavia, because of the embargo. After gaining financial independence, Mr. Gadjev built a small factory for processing wild mushrooms. The whole production was made for export to France.

In 1999 the trademark MARKOGI was created and registered. The name comes from the names of Mr. Gadjev’s children – Mariela and Ognian, who will continue the tradition in production.

Also, in 1999 the small factory started to expand. New products are added to the company’s portfolio, mostly vegetable products. The factory has 4 industrial tunnels for roasting peppers and eggplant. It also owns cold storages with capacity of 140 tons ready product and a deep-freeze warehouse with a capacity of 10 tons.

In August 2019 the newly established company Markogi LTD owned by the Gadjevi family members took over the activities of Contract-Nikolay Gadjev.

In 2020 a new production facility was built. The factory complies with all EU requirements for production of foodstuff. The company implemented HACCP as a system for quality control. Certificate for registration of a factory for production of vegetable, fruit and mushrooms cans No.6/02/08.2011 with registration No.24020006.

The new factory is built on two floors – the ground floor is storage and cold storages; the second floor is for production.

Also, in 2020 the trademark VEGANITSA, a combination of the words Vegan and Ljutenitza, was registered. Under the name VEGANITSA sterilized pouches of Bulgarian Ljutenitza and Ketchup are merchandized.

Principles

The main policy of the company is to rely mostly on quality, rather than quantity of the products. Our goal is not to grow big, but to develop what we make since the foundation of the company – high quality preserved food. Almost all our products are made from traditional home recipes, produced with fresh, clean, natural, and highest quality raw vegetables grown in Bulgaria.

Our pride is that we are extremely flexible for implementing new recipes, products, container sizes, or packaging. We work under more than 10 different trademarks for partners in USA, Russia, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, England, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Singapore, Japan, China and during the last decade in Bulgaria.

We are open to new ideas,new products, new partners. We believe that with persistence and fair treatment we can find a mutual interest in working with any company, interested in our policy and principles.

Higher education in Economics and French at Lake Forest College, Chicago, USA. He has completed postgraduate specializations and internships in Chicago, Paris and Tokyo. Since 2005 he has been directly part of Markogi’s team with the task of expanding the company’s markets.
